The performer shows his hands empty, and asks anyone to get a box of matches.  The box is positioned upon the back of the performer's hand, and it slowly and mysteriously rises to a standing position, in full view of the spectator.  The box is immediately handed to the spectator with nothing added or taken away from the matchbox or the performer's empty hands.

This effect is older than the hills, but most of the places where it is in print are difficult to find.  Even if you find the instructions, the descriptions are obscure and only a few sentences long.  I've added my own handling, photos, hints and presentation, as well as the video showing what you will expect once you've mastered this technique.
